Adler vs Freud

Some people experience trauma that isn't easily recognizable to the outside world.

Adlerian psychology is a field of study that says you are making mistakes and consciously coming up with excuses, to cover up for the real reason behind the observed behavior. Freudian psychology is a field of study says that that there may be reasons for you behaving a certain way, but that the reason behind it is not something you can change proactively, but that the reason behind the behavior is not even something you can access because it lies in the realm of the unconscious, so definitely not something you can control.

The way to recover in Adlerian psychology is to admit that you have made mistake, because it is perceived that your behavior was a result of something you could have controlled, meaning a plan of action that corrects that mistake will help you get back on your original course.  On the other hand, the way to redeem your bad karma is to let the unconscious surface; since your behavior is rooted in something far deeper than something you yourself can correct with a rational mind.  Instead, the way to correct your mistake lies in letting your unconscious surface - which you can try to do by yourself or seek professional help of a trained psychologist.  Because only when something that happened decades ago, during your childhood or even earlier, such as neglect of mother, rivalry between sisters, a constant quarrel in between your parents, are things that have accumulated over the years making you act or react a certain way.  Without an attempt to uncover and understand the deep feelings that reside in the depths of your soul, you simply cannot correct your behavior, even with rational tools.

I'm curious, which way of thought is closer to how you live your life?
